Get to Know Me
I am a neuro-oncologist who specializes in the care of people with brain tumors and the neurologic complications of cancer. I work with a multidisciplinary team of neurosurgeons, radiation oncologists, nurses, and research staff to deliver high-quality, compassionate, and specialized care in the treatment of primary brain tumors (including low-grade gliomas, anaplastic gliomas, glioblastomas, ependymomas, and meningiomas), central nervous system lymphoma, and brain metastases (cancers that have spread from other parts of the body).

With the support of my colleagues at Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Brain Tumor Center, I am also involved in several clinical trials that are seeking to develop novel approaches to treating patients with newly diagnosed and recurrent brain tumors. I also perform clinical research about family planning — specifically fertility preservation and the effects of pregnancy in patients with primary brain tumors.

Given the level of care and understanding that MSK clearly has for its patients it is very hard to reconcile the seeming disregard to the one commodity that cancer patients have ......... time. Having patients wait ALWAYS at least an hour and frequently double that or more to see a doctor or have infusion completed past a "scheduled" appointment time is really mean and disrespectful. If it was just once in a while it's quite understandable but sadly it's the rule and not the exception.
As always, it was great!
The transition to the new app has been a horrendous experience. My husband underwent a craniotomy at MSK in NYC in 2022 and has been under the care of his doctors since. And everything has been going amazing. Until he got the flu in February and we had to reschedule his appointments through the new app. There has been no responses to any of our messages for the month of March, which were all sent in an attempt to reschedule appointments. When we did get scheduled his MRI was scheduled for AFTER his appointment with his doctor, who needed to review the results for the appointment. I was the one to notice the mistake and call. Even though it was rescheduled, it was scheduled incorrectly and he therefore was not called in the medication he needed to take prior to the appointment. Luckily we had extra from the prior appointment and he self medicated. When we arrived at the appointment he learned that the order had been correct but the app was displaying the discrepancy, and that it was a good thing that he had taken the medication so the appointment could move forward. During the final appointment of the day, meeting with the doctor, he had to repeat his entire medication history over because none of the information had transferred over to the new system. Sloan is supposed to be centered on excellence and putting patients first, this past experience felt nothing close to that. We love our doctor, our only complaint is the negative impact the transition to your new system has had.
As always the wait time to see anyone in this facility is ridiculous. So very frustrating when you drive 1.5 hours to be on time only to wait 2 hours for your appointment!
Dr. Stone is amazing
